The first thing that comes into my mind when thinking about this book was that it felt like a draft, as if the author had send it in to publishers as a book proposal for a novella or novel.

As much as I loved the idea of the book and often the narration, it unfortunately lacks many things so that I can't give it more than 2.5 stars, rounded up, since I have to admit, that I still like it. Maybe because it's that I'm a sucker for beast erotica.



What dazzled me in the beginning was the usage of opposing styles. The description of everything was so fairy tale-ish, but I instantly got smacked some crude porno vocabulary in the face. For my those two do not really fit together unless approached slowly, but that's just me.

Then the switching from one 3rd POV to two 3rd POV and then back again, as if the author couldn't decide.



But that's not enough to strip down so many stars. We have things that don't make sense - (view spoiler)[Why beat up the sacrifice and risk the beast refusing to take damage goods? - apart from bringing some darkness to the book, really unnecessary.

And then there are some things that don't work. (The Beast putting fingers inside her that have CLAWS, where did they go? He would hurt her. And what about his fangs? Did they disappear too, when he was eating her out?



That being said, to me it appears that this story didn't have critical beta- or editor, because most of it could have been easily fixed with a bit more time. Even more: it could have been a very good novella.
